It is THE BEST when a girls trip gets planned! Any trip actually.
But I was super duper excited to hit up NASHVILLE with my sistas!
David was more than kind to uber to our houses and drive us to the airport.
I think he was ready to ditch us overly giddy girls.
I was a mini van mamma for the trip. Since I booked the rental car and it was an extra $50 to add extra drivers, I became the chauffeur. Yes, I know lots of people bypass that rule. But with my credit card on the line I didn't want to risk an accident and me purchasing a new van when I don't need/want one!! Here is a slap happy picture of us doing a jig that we finally figured out how to turn off the blasted overhead light, with the help of another fellow traveler:)
We had about a 45 min drive to our Airbnb. We decided to get a house in the "country" instead of a hotel in the city. SO GLAD we did because if this house doesn't scream charm, I don't know what does! It was way cheaper, too.
Lucky for us our home away from home was right down the street from Loveless Café! I major check on our to do list.
We had planned to go straight into the city right after breakfast but on our way we passed a sign saying the Belle Meade Plantation was at the next exit. That was on our list as well so we veered to the right and there we were!
We had an hour to kill before our tour so we walked the grounds. They had little log houses you could go in where the slaves lived in. A butcher house, and big stable. It was so green and beautiful!
This made be laugh! Getting all different angles!
This wasn't a typical plantation where they harvested cotton. It is known for the Jackson and Harding family and the skilled slaves who worked to make Thoroughbred horses. Does the name Seabiscuit sound familiar? Every horse to race in the Kentucky Derby can trace their blood lines back to Belle Meade. Pictures were not allowed, but I managed to sneak some:)
They had huge magnolia trees everywhere.
After the tour we made our way into the city. First we needed to try some famous Mas Tacos!
Every website said to eat here. They were mighty tasty, but not to the point where we wanted to come back. I guess living in AZ you have your pick of any taco you want at anytime.
A glimpse of downtown Nashville. That iconic building with 2 towers is dubbed Batman.
We should have done more research but most tours were ending at 5. It was 4:30 so we were bummed we missed out on some good tours. Until we found out that the Jonny Cash museum was open until 6!
I don't know much about him. Should have watched Walk the Line on the flight over like Stephanie.
But he is an icon so it was fun to see some of his memorabilia.
We tried on cowboy boots and walked through shops before hitting the night life.
We walked over the famous bridge that goes over the Cumberland River.
It was hopping more than usual because the Nashville hockey team, the Predators, were playing in some big tournament game that night. There were people all over with gold jerseys on. Now that I'm thinking about it, we should have kept our eyes peeled for Carrie Underwood! Her husband is on that team.
Once it got dark, boy did the night life hit!
We were excited to get our honkey tonk on!
They have a strip, much like Vegas lined with bar after bar.
Each bar has live performers who are trying to get discovered.
It was crazy fun! We went into Tootsies. It was 3 levels with each level have performers on it.
We danced, sang and had ourselves a good ole time!
We found our way to some ice cream before making our trek back to our
little Nashville home.
