Rusty had a grand time at FSY!
Until the last night.
I woke up Saturday morning to a text saying he
didn't sleep at all because his stomach hurt so bad!
I instantly called to ask more questions.
In the middle of the call he said he needed to run to the bathroom.
I hung up.
Then received a text saying he just threw up.
Darn, he must have caught a stomach bug!
I wasn't too concerned.
A minute later he sent another text.
"oh ya, I've also been pooping lots of blood".
My stomach dropped.
Ummm, that's a little more concerning!
I called my brother in law, Travis, who was driving him home
and filled him in.
I felt terrible he was left to drive him home being sick!
He assured me it was fine.
I paced my house for the next 3 hours waiting for him to get home!
We were leaving on a trip the very next day, and it was a Saturday.
I had no time for a doctors office.
I knew I needed to take him straight
to the hospital to get this figured out before we left.
I have never had a child poop blood before,
and I was internally freaking out!
and I was internally freaking out!
I also had so much to do to get ready to leave,
and Della had a party
and Della had a party
I was supposed to be with her at.
Things like this never happen at opportune times!
He looked like a ghost and I guess they pulled over
a couple of times for him to throw up.
Off we went to the hospital!
Oh, the fun things you see in the waiting room!
Some homeless guy causing a scene.
Bless the health care workers who put up with so much.
They got us back to the room where we told our story a few different
times to nurses and doctors.
They were so sweet and kind, offering him Gatorade.
They stated a couple of things it could be and ordered some tests.

Meanwhile, Stephanie text me.
Her boys had also been at FSY.
They told her they all ate tons of...red velvet cake.
They told her they all ate tons of...red velvet cake.
I slowly tilted my phone down and stared at Rusty.
Are you for reals?
However, if this is what it is, I'll take it!
But I was dying that I would be the hospital story
of the day for idiocy!
of the day for idiocy!
When the doctor came back in, I sheepishly admitted to what
I had just learned.
She didn't make me feel dumb, but wanted to run the tests
just to make sure he in fact was not pooping blood, but
indeed red food dye!
Which was the case.
It was a huge sigh of relief!
His stomach bug must have been a random thing he caught.
What are the chances they coincided at the same time?!
What are the chances they coincided at the same time?!
All said and done, I don't think the 2 of us will
eat red velvet anything ever again!
He sees puke.
I see ER hospital bills...that make me want to puke $.
