Twinners

I had a request a while back to do a post about me and my twin sister Stephanie . I thought that it would be fun so here it goes. As you can tell we don't look anything like twins, especially when we were little. Stephanie having dark hair and brown eyes and I having blond hair, blue eyes and one always being taller than the other...she won that part in the end. Nick names growing up were Steph the reph (with a boyfriend named Jeff) and Shell the bell (with a boyfriend named Mell). We had a friend who couldn't pronounce Stephanie but could kind of make out my name so we were Sheddy and more Sheddy. My mom made sure that we always were in separate classrooms in school and church so we could be an individual and not be labeled "the twins". We always managed to have the same group of friends though. There are lot's of perks about being a twin. We always shared a room so when we weren't tired at night we would play games while lying in our beds like tracing words on the ceiling with a flashlight and having the other one figure out what it said. There was 2 closets to choose from instead of one. There was always someone to hang out with at a boring family reunion, someone to go with you on the scary first day of school and some one to open your bedroom window so you could sneak in after curfew! We did almost everything together, (probably since we shared a car, jk) until we graduated high school and real "adult" life came in. Stephanie left for BYU and I stayed here to work and go to MCC. It was a hard adjustment to have her leave but I think since I knew she was only going for 2 yrs it didn't seem so bad. Plus I had a sweet hook up to go snowboarding all the time and I finally had the car all to my self! We also got to go to BYU Hawaii together for a semester which was a good bonding time for us. Since then we both have gotten married and of course you all know that we have Lane which Stephanie is a second mother to him. Another reason why I am doing this post about us is because today Stephanie moved to Buffalo NY so her husband could go to dental school for 4 yrs. To me 4 yrs is an eternity and Buffalo is an eternity away, so we will miss them very much. I know that being a twin has been a blessing in my life. I am not the most out going person and can be very shy so she has been a sense of comfort to me all through the years. It was hard to see her leave again today for a long period of time. Steph, I know you don't think this sometimes but I really do love and appreciate you. Thanks for always being there for me, always offering to babysit Lane and being so good to him. You are a wonderful sister!

Stephanie taught 5th grade at Franklin Elementary so on the 2nd to last day of school Lane and I went to visit her class room. This is were I went to school for 6 yrs. so it was kind of weird going back. We played some games with the kids and I even got to be in charge of an activity... what a power trip!

We will miss them for sure...especially Lane. So everybody look forward to seeing lots of posts of trips back east in the future!

Cute post! I think you two look a lot a like when you were younger!! So fun to be a twin...see I told you I want twins next :) Thanks for letting us swim with you today! The kids loved it. Ashlyn fell asleep the last 10 minutes of the drive and wouldn't go back to bed--dang her! Randon was and still is sound asleep!!! Thanks again. You are so great.

Nope...you don't look anything alike to me. Are you sure your mom didn't just SAY you were twins? Just playin. I think the only slight similarity is your eyes and even then they're not the same. Gotta love sisters. I have 2 but they are 8 and 10 years older so we weren't that close growin up.

Love the pictures, especially the one with the little piggy noses. It's too bad she's moving so far away. It stinks to have your family far away but like everybody keeps saying, it gives you an excuse to go somewhere. :)

You guys were so cute when you were little... well you still are. I always wished I had a sister... I'm envious of people who had these amazing sisters that they grew up with. Sorry to hear that she moved, at least its easy to stay in touch these days. And now you have an AWESOME place to visit.

Hey this is Cassie Goodman. I found your blog awhile ago and I check in on you every once in awhile, so I thought it was about time I commented and said hi. I haven't seen you guys forever! I think I've only seen Lane once. Crazy cuz we used to see eachother all the time! Anyways, hope to see you soon! Probably at a softball game or something!

The website is www.bountifulbaskets.org. You pay online ($16.50 for the first time & $15 after that) and then you choose a location to pick it up at. There's a bunch of locations so I'm sure there's one close to you. It's twice a month and you bring a laundry basket to put everything in & that's that. It's kind of fun to see what you end up with and try to use new things (i.e. beets). :)

That's such a cute post Shelley! I'm sure you'll miss Stephanie a ton. I've been dying with Melissa on her mission...she comes back in a week! Yeah, I am SO excited. Seriously, nothing beats having a conversation with your sister, where you're always finishing each other's sentences. I love it! Oh & the picture with the pig noses...hilarious!

Wow shell! I never knew you cared!! Jk. But seriously, that totally made me cry, which was awkward being at the Erie County library (our internet wasn't hooked up yet)Now we have internet and I have time to comment. I had forgotten about fun night games when we couldn't sleep. We would also play 20 questions with people in our Sunday school class, etc. I had never considered our relationship a typical "twin" relationship but I think I just always took for granted what we had. Thats probably why I was kind of surprised at how incredibly sad I felt hugging you goodbye at mom's house. I will really miss you and Lane (even though the kid couldn't care less :) I really hope you can visit often. Thank you for such a sweet post. I know it's hard for you to share your feelings, but I really appreciated it. It's what I needed to hear. Thanks for all you do for me. I love you too!

I haven't looked at your blog in a bit, and this sounds cheesy but wow that was touching. I almost cried and couldn't tell if it was just me being pregnant. You guys are so lucky to have a sister you're THAT close to. I always wanted a twin to hang out with after I met you two.
