Falling into October

I have to admit I am getting exited for a new change of season and weather. I think once it hits October my mind can mentally change over. I love our Arizona Fall even though it doesn't seem to last long enough. It was time again for the traditional Goodman tamale making day. This year I think they were the best so far. It is amazing how such yummy little things can take so much work.

About once a year I have enough energy to have a little Martha Stewart in me and be some what domestic. Here are a few things I did to get me in the spirit of Fall.
Since our family has a love for peaches, I decided to order a box from Utah and make freezer jam. This was my first time to make any kind of jam. I attempted... but I'm not so sure I conquered. We also have enough frozen peaches to last I think 2 more years.
(mental note: next year buy canning jars way in advanced so you don't have to go to 5 different stores to find out that all of Mesa is canning the same day you are, and that they have been sold out even though you saw oodles there the week before)

I made my thankful blocks for my entry table. Thanks to my cousin Leah I get hooked up with cute crafts.

Time to get the garden ready and planted for our fall harvest. Lane is the biggest helper boy and loved being outside and working with daddy.

I am kind of scared because I think he ate half of the pack of peas when I wasn't looking

I got to go to lunch with one of my best friends Heather who just had her first baby. Little Merrick is only one week old and was born 3 1/2 weeks early. He was just so precious! I know this doesn't have anything to do with Fall but I couldn't resist!

Wow, you made a lot of jam! Way to go! :) I felt lucky that I got my peaches a little early because I noticed that all the jars were gone this week. :) Just out of curiosity, what are you planting in your garden? I feel the need to plant something but I don't know what to plant. The thankful blocks are way cute, and so is the baby! :)

So I got hungry reading this post, even though I'm truly full. I love the sagger pants pic of Lane. Way to go on canning peaches. I just bought some yesterday at WalMart. They were mushy and tasteless. I always give that store another chance every few months, just to be let down again. So Heather had her BABY!! Why doesn't that girl have a blog? She does everything else, so why not a blog? He looks really cute and healthy for being so premature. Tell her congrats for me!

Hi Shelly,
I LOVE your blog. It's so fun to see all the stuff you've been up to. Your Thankful letters turned out really cute by the way. Good job with the peach jam, I've tried strawberry before which turned out pretty good. I'll have to attempt peach some time. Anyways, take care.

Ok, I know I ask you ? all the time in my comments, but did you glue crafty stuff to the blocks? I wanted to do something like that with our last name but I didn't know what you used

Did being with that newborn baby make you want one?? Just curious...
I didn't end up making my pumpkin cookies b/c lack of ingredients. I'm off to steal some from my mom first thing in the morning- then I think the boys and I are baking. They don't have school this week so it's kinda of nice- NO CARPOOL!! Come on by if you want to take home your very own plate of these yummy things! (i'm such a fatty prego!!) hahaha.

WOW, I'm impressed! You guys even make masa from scratch! Can I tell you all my life I've grown up making tamales and every year I'd rather have a papsmear! No joke they 're so much work and we buy our masa. Wow I'm gonna have to get in the groove because our family tamale day is in December and I'm already dreading it! I'll have to post pictures. Our day consist of, the ladies/gals of the family get together from 10-4. We mke tamales, make two Christmas crafts for our homes and then at 5:00 our families join us for a tamale dinner and ornamnet exchange. Maybe too much in one day that's why I'm so tired, but from 2 on is my favorite part!
See you soon:)
