We had a 3 hour drive back to Nashville.
We woke up I think at 5am, which meant 3am AZ time,
to make sure we had enough time since on the way to Dollywood it took us longer than we thought.
Our flight left that afternoon and we needed lots of time to wander through the most
darling, beautiful, green parts of Franklin!
Once again we lucked out with weather.
It still down poured on us the whole drive back, but at least
it wasn't raining when we arrived!
Just super cold:)
We tried Biscuit Love again.
This one was in an old house.
We were told that the shrimp and grits was award winning by Bon Appetit.
3 of us got it.
Abbey 's not so fond of sea food.
All of us were licking our bowls clean!
It was one of the most amazing things I have ever eaten!
We drove by the Nashville Temple.
Funny how it is the called the Nashville temple, even though it is not in Nashville.
It is a teeny, tiny temple!
There was a church building next door we could have gone to church to.
We decided to have a true Southern Baptist experience.
After googling and driving to many different buildings, we felt good about
Lime Stone Missionary Baptist church!
We pulled into the parking lot to see 2 African American men dressed much
like Lloyd and Harry in lime and orange church suits.
We were starting to wonder if this was a good idea, lol!
Stephanie persisted and on in went!
The 2 gentlemen were very friendly and greeted us warmly with
handshakes. They were probably wondering who in the heck we were and
why did we come to their church!
They were in the middle of the Sacrament, I believe.
We waited out in the foyer and could watch on the tv screen.
Everyone was standing and swaying. I wish we could have listened to what
they were saying.
Photo op in the hallway while we waited.
It was neat to see that they believe they are children of God, just
like we do!
Once the prayer was over, the doors opened and we were allowed in.
The choir was signing and boy howdy, they know how to sing!
Much like the movie Sister Act, minus the nuns!
The drummer and man on the keyboard were so amazingly talented!
I sat and was just taking it all in.
My very favorite were the old ladies in the front with their church hats on.
I took a still shot from Stephanie's post on Instagram.
They did their tithing then on to the sermon.
It was a good message!
The pastor read some passages from the bible then talked about how we all need Jesus in
our lives. AMEN!
It was a great way to worship that day!
Afterwards we were greeted by very friendly church members.
They were celebrating birthdays so they were passing out cake.
We declined but asked if they wouldn't mind taking their pictures with us!
After our nice Sunday worship, it was time to get our shopping on!
Haha, not quite keeping the Sabbath day holy, but when in Rome...
We were told to check out Leiper's Fork, I little suburb of Franklin.
Can we say Stars Hollow?
I wanted to move here instantly!!
We parked the van and started walking through all the cute boutiques that lined the street.
Most of them are houses that they turned into stores.
This was in the kitchen.
And back porch.
I want this to be my view out of my back porch!
Green hill after green hill
There was a "mall" in Franklin we wanted to check out. We were told it had an antique store in it that was fun to browse through. When we got there it had recently gone under and everything was gone!
Boo.
However, we walked in a little bit more to see that there were tons of other places to browse in!
We had only 15 minutes before we needed to head to the airport. Stephanie ran to Jeni's ice cream, and I ran to these donuts! Ever heard of a cronut? They rivaled my shrimp and grits as a favorite.
I got a dozen to go and you better believe I took good care of them on the plane home to my
hubby who was so sweet to hold down the fort while I was gone!
I was amazed at how brown AZ looked in the sky as we approached for
landing after being around so much color.
It was so neat to experience that trip.
I have never been to that part of the country.
I hope to make it back again someday!
