It got cold!!
Basically overnight.
I was at Rusty's baseball game and the flip flops weren't cutting it.
I almost had to tap out and go home because my feet were frozen!
I had remembered there were mittens in my purse.
Voila!
It held me over until the game ended.
He loved playing with his buddies on the school team.
Why are they extra cute and sweet while they are sleeping??
It was like it took me back in time when she was a sleeping newborn.
Lane was getting closer to being able to get his license!
I signed him up for on the road driving lessons.
He was thrilled to spend 4 afternoons driving around town, Saguaro lake,
and Gold Canyon for a couple of ours with an instructor.
Can you catch my sarcasm?
Best part of it all was that it counted for his actual driving test.
AND they took him to the DMV to do the paperwork.
I didn't have to do a thing except pay for it. Booya!
Worth it right there.
Cousin night playing pickleball at my aunt and uncles house!
It became official.
SWEET SIXTEEN!!
He did NOT want ANY attention.
This is the way it has always been with him.
I gave him so many suggestions on what we could do to celebrate.
Raceway Speedway with friends. No.
I offered to take him and a friend to Magic Mountain. No.
Rent out a restaurant or movie theater. No.
I couldn't win.
All he wanted was a go pro.
Come on.
You are only 16 once!
I think his biggest fear was that I would throw him a surprise party.
I thought about it, but had to respect his wishes.
Only because I know him so well, I knew he was content on just hanging
out with friends like normal.
He would never trust me again if I said I wouldn't, and then I did throw him a party.
I shouldn't be complaining.
This saved me a lot of time and money.
Opening up the only thing he asked for.
And he DID get a truck to drive.
Not his, but a family vehicle.
My parents stopped by with balloons, QT card for gas (his responsibility now) and
a lego set! Both of my boys still love to assemble legos.
Grammy stopped by as well to wish him a happy birthday.
He picked Cheesecake Factory for dinner.
He couldn't get his license for a couple more weeks.
But hallelujah, it is the BEST thing in the world having a driver in the family!!
Casey helped me decorate the nursery room.
It had the same drabby pictures from when we moved into the ward!
I think it is funny that people are afraid to change things in church buildings.
I did an overhaul of the toy chest.
More than half of it was broken, disgusting and garbage.
It felt good hauling off the junk!
So much better during toy time.
I put the stars on the front of the door before class.
When they come in from Sacrament meeting they find their picture and
put it up on the wall by Jesus.
It helps distract them from the drop off/ leaving mommy situation.
I could not look at Della and her hanging by a thread snaggle tooth one second longer!
I get SO squeamish with pulling teeth.
I cant do it.
In fact, I have never pulled out any of my children's teeth.
Casey was at a meeting.
I text Miche next door with an SOS.
She said Darl would do it!
He saved the day!
Bless you, Darl!
A pilgrim escaped the village and got into my car!
Lane answered Emery back for Winfo!
It ended up being an ordeal.
We pulled up late on a Sunday night to a bazillion cars at her house!
They were hosting a family party.
We went home for a bit, then thought for sure they would have left by now.
Nope!
We waited, and waited.
People were on the driveway, so he couldn't sneak over without being seen.
Finally they all left and he was able to make a mad dash for the door.
Primary program day!
They had quite the entourage!
I normally don't invite anybody to these things.
I never think to, plus, primary programs are basically the same every year.
My mom and Marcie kept asking, so I gave up.
It did come in handy because I had to head to nursery, so my mom
helped Della with her talk!
Meet TT (tiny truck)!
The newest member of our family!
The used car industry is nuts.
We searched for months with zero luck of finding anything decent enough
to buy for Lane to drive.
I couldn't believe the prices on complete junkers.
We finally asked Casey's mission buddy who owns a dealership in UT if he
had anything. He didn't.
A month goes by and we still hadn't found anything when
Sebring, Casey's car friend, calls wondering if we had found a truck.
A man had just traded in his old Colorado for a new one.
It had really good miles, an amazing car fax report, and only had 2 owners.
Unheard of for an older vehicle.
Nothing seemed alarming with it.
We didn't think we would be able to find anything better, so we jumped on it, site unseen!
Even better that he wasn't going to charge us the dealership fees.
Sebring was going to be in Vegas the following week for a car show.
He would drive it down and meet us half way.
I dropped Casey off at the airport early in the morning.
They had breakfast together, then he was on his journey home from his short stint in Vegas.
Fun little day adventure.
It would be a few weeks before Lane could drive it.
So I took the liberty of breaking it in!
It was a blast zipping around in TT!
I forget how fun driving little cars can be.
Casey and I would even take it on our date nights.
